It was beeeautiful this weekend. Friday it was about 75, Saturday 92, and Sunday 96. Ahhh…the heat. I love it.
I planted thyme, basil, spearmint, and cilantro in our herb garden and then transplanted marigolds, geraniums, and a few other flowers to pots in the backyard. We also transplanted the grapevines to the fence, and I admired my 13 cantaloupe sprouts. The hubs constructed a hanging tomato plant container, I laid out in the sun (with sunscreen on, of course), while the munchkin swam in her pool in the shade.
What a weekend.
It would only be better if we were doing all this in Texas.

we've been busy in backyard lately too! first of all i have to say that we got a live in "manny" (aka. husband's buddy who needed a place to live for a spell and helps out more around the house than husband so thats ok. husband makes money. manny keeps the house and kid happy.) our manny is quite handy in terms of hanging shelves and reworking backyards. we're currently digging up halve of the yard (our yard is maybe 30x30 and on an erosion slope, so "fixing" still more work than i want to do alone) to make a level yard portion and then raising the back part of the yard level with the existing flower bed to make a double wide flowerbed which i endearingly refer to as the garden. this weekend we're going to start working on the drainage and the retaining wall (think reclaimed brick) of the garden, but i've already planted in the existing flowerbed. 4 tomato plants (romas & early girls), a couple bell pepper plants, some basil, and watermelons for the boy. and i have a random geranium in there that servived from last year's flower garden efforts. i need to remember to get it a pot to match the one that the lavendar got stuck in. oh! i also did pots for rosemary, lemon thyme, spearmint, and chives. we're going to also do 2 or 3 wine barrel planters for a forest of parsely and maybe some oregano and maybe a bit more basil.
i cant wait for the garden to be complete and maybe get some squash in there before its too late!
